New Year, New Cannabinoids:

How CBG Can Help You Relax & Rejuvenate

When talking about rejuvenation, it’s essential to evaluate various methods aimed at helping to relax and restore our bodies and minds. More and more, we are seeing how cannabis can be included in this conversation to help our bodies reset and recover in order to be our best selves.

As the new year approaches, let’s continue to shape our relationship with cannabis through up-and-coming cannabinoids and learn how they might help us on our journey to rejuvenation. One cannabinoid, cannabigerol (CBG), is becoming increasingly praised for its potential benefits, and it could prove helpful in your rejuvenation routine.

What is CBG?

As with other cannabinoids, CBG is derived from the cannabis plant. However, CBG deviates from other cannabinoids as it plays a special role. CBG is the decarboxylated form of cannabigerolic acid (CBGa) —otherwise known as cannabinoids’ parent molecule. This means that CBG branches off to form all of the other cannabinoids from high profile CBD and THC to lesser-known cannabinoids like cannabinol (CBN) and cannabichromene (CBC).

How CBG Benefits the Body

Around the world, researchers are discovering how cannabinoids can benefit the body and give us a clearer picture of how we can use them to revitalize ourselves. Although more research needs to be done, incoming evidence suggests CBG can help the body in a myriad of ways, most notably helping alleviate stress and mitigate pain. Reducing Stress and Anxiety With CBG One fundamental way CBG may be able to benefit is by tackling anxiety. According to Dr. Bao Le, Founder of, “Anxiety has many causes. Essentially, CBG helps the body’s endocrine system to lower the chemical that creates anxiety. CBG is a chemical your body recognizes as an ally to help lower stress in your body.” CBG acts as a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) reuptake inhibitor. GABA reuptake inhibitors are often employed to help people quell anxiety symptoms. As CBG contains this property, budding research suggests it could help similarly mitigate feelings of stress and anxiety. There is also new evidence suggesting CBG could also help with muscle and nerve pain. Due to CBG’s status as a reuptake inhibitor, the cannabinoid may activate a cascading calming effect, encouraging tension relief and muscle relaxation —paving the way for you to feel your best. Bonus — CBG May Also Promote Sleep We can’t talk about rejuvenation without mentioning the importance of rest. CBG may be able to help those suffering from sleep issues. Often, poor sleeping caused by insomnia negatively impacts waking hours. Stressful conditions and anxiety can also trigger it. Since CBG may counter anxiety and amplify relaxation throughout the day, it could help lead the body to a well-rested night.

Enhance Bioavailability for CBG’s Best Effects

To activate its effects, CBG must enter the circulatory system via absorption through a process known as bioavailability. The best way to administer CBG to improve bioavailability is via oral, sublingual use. “Hold the oil under your tongue for 3-5 minutes before swallowing,” recommends Dr. Le. This ensures the cannabinoid gets where it needs to be right away. Sublingual CBG has heightened rates of bioavailability due to its direct absorption. Utilizing this method also allows for longer-lasting effects.

Other methods to help increase bioavailability include vaporization or inhalation of CBG products such as CBG prerolls or flower. Although there is no path to complete absorption, increasing CBG’s bioavailability enables you to experience fuller effects, which can help aid you in your mission to relax and rejuvenate. If you’re interested in exploring what CBG can do for you, CBG can also be sampled as edible treats such as gummies, as CBG capsules or by applying topicals.
